If you're dreaming of green mountains, pine trees, water, and some of the prettiest scenery in Utah, a Tibble Fork bridal session is hard to beat. This summer bridal session and first look had everything I love about photographing couples in the mountains. Lush green scenery, beautiful dress details, a classic black suit, and plenty of time to slow down and create portraits without the rush of a wedding day.
Tibble Fork Reservoir is one of those locations that looks completely different depending on the season. During the summer, everything comes alive. The mountains are deep green, the trees are full, and the reservoir adds another beautiful backdrop without having to travel between locations.
For couples looking for Utah bridal photo locations, Tibble Fork is easily one of my favorites.
A First Look at Tibble Fork
We started the session with their first look, which is one of my favorite reasons to schedule bridals before the wedding day.
There's something different about having this moment when you aren't surrounded by a wedding timeline and dozens of people. You get to slow down, actually take in seeing each other for the first time, and enjoy the moment together.
And selfishly, I love getting to photograph the reaction.
Doing your first look during your bridal session also means that when the wedding day arrives, you've already spent time together in front of the camera. You know what to expect, you're more comfortable, and you already have a full gallery of beautiful portraits before the wedding even begins.

Summer at Tibble Fork is STUNNING.
The greenery was one of my favorite parts of this session. Everywhere we turned there was another beautiful backdrop. Between the reservoir, mountains, open fields, and trees, we were able to create a gallery with a ton of variety while staying in the same general area.
The lush green landscape also worked perfectly with their wedding look.
His classic black suit stood out beautifully against all of the greenery, while her dress brought so much texture and detail into the photos. The combination felt elegant and timeless without looking overly formal for the mountain setting.
It was such a good reminder that you don't need an elaborate location to create elevated bridal portraits. Sometimes a beautiful dress, a black suit, and the Utah mountains are more than enough.
All the Details on Her Dress
Her dress deserved its own moment.
One thing I always make sure to do during bridal sessions is photograph the details you spent so much time choosing. On a wedding day, there can be a lot happening at once. During bridals, we have time to really focus on the dress, veil, rings, bouquet, shoes, and all of the little details that make your look yours.
Her dress had the prettiest detailing, and the natural setting at Tibble Fork made it stand out even more.
I love getting the big, sweeping portraits that show off the Utah mountains, but I also love moving in close and documenting the details. Those smaller photographs add so much variety to a final bridal gallery.
Why I Love Bridal Sessions Before the Wedding
If you're debating whether bridals are worth it, my answer is almost always yes.
A separate bridal session gives us so much more freedom than we usually have on a wedding day. There's no ceremony starting in 20 minutes. There aren't family members waiting for pictures. There isn't a reception timeline we need to get back to.
We can take our time.
That means more locations, more variety, more attention to details, and more time for the two of you to get comfortable together.
It also takes pressure off your wedding day. Since you already have beautiful portraits together, we don't need to spend a huge portion of the wedding pulling you away from your guests for photos.
And if you're nervous about being in front of the camera, a bridal session is basically the perfect practice run before the wedding.

For brides, dresses with movement or intricate details photograph especially well here. The simplicity of the landscape allows lace, beading, fabric, sleeves, veils, and other details to really stand out.
You don't need to match the scenery. Let the mountains be the backdrop and choose wedding attire that feels like you.

Later evening light is especially beautiful in American Fork Canyon. Because you're surrounded by mountains, the sun can disappear earlier than you might expect, so I always plan mountain sessions around when the light will actually drop behind the peaks rather than relying only on the listed sunset time.
Summer is perfect if you want that lush green look. Fall gives you completely different colors, and winter can transform the entire area with snow. I'd also bring comfortable shoes for walking between locations. You can always switch into your wedding shoes once we're ready to take photos.
Most importantly, give yourself enough time to enjoy it. Bridals shouldn't feel like another item you have to rush through before your wedding.
